The Whanganui River is one of the most historic waterways in New Zealand. A variety of activities including a trip on the Waimarie, New Zealand's only historic paddle steamer, take place daily.

Directions


Travelling from Wellington: SH 3. Turn right off intersection directing to Town Centre. Turn left onto main bridge leading into Victoria Avenue. Turn left into Liverpool Street approximately 2km up Avenue.

Travelling from New Plymouth: SH 3. Continue past Virginia Lake, down St Johns Hill onto Victoria Avenue (main street). Turn right onto Liverpool Street.

Travelling from National Park/Taupo: SH 4. Turn right at the first roundabout, travel over the Dublin Street Bridge. Straight through roundabout along Dublin Street to intersection with Victoria Avenue, turn right into Victoria Avenue and first left into Liverpool Street. We are situated on the right approximately 100 metres along Liverpool Street.

Wanganui City was founded in 1840 and has developed into a thriving cultural centre with strong traditions in Maori art, theatre and music. Many gardens and parks brighten the city in addition to historic buildings.
